[He'd be lying if he said he didn't mean to wake her up so he doesn't add that. Leans in to press a kiss against her forehead, then her cheek, lingering there and tightening his hold on her in his arms. He can't tell her what's happened over the past few days, she doesn't know but he wants all the comfort he can draw from her.]
[He doesn't have to talk, this just is proof that he does not need words to convey - and she is so lucky, beyond the help this brings to her job, to have someone like Raleigh in her life. A sliver of good; it's why she works harder, to keep him safe. To keep him.]
Me too. [She reaches up and runs her fingers through his hair, gentle, over and over, pulling away to press her lips to his forehead and the tip of his nose.]
[Sighing softly, more like letting out his breath slowly than an actual sigh, Raleigh circles her nose with his, a little eskimo kiss. Something so simple and innocent almost, compared with the shit of the past few days.]
Nothing eventful. [A mission went well on her side, but that's nothing he needs to know about. That eskimo kiss makes her melt on the inside, wanting to shelter him in her arms for a while.]
You're home now. [As long as he doesn't know the truth about her, this is their safety house, her home as much as it is his. He is, truth be told; beyond the encouragement of her agency, she would follow Raleigh Becket to the edge of the Earth if he asked. The agency didn't ask Mako to fall in love, that was a self-allowed bonus.] Backrub?
[Yeah, he's home now. He's home with Mako. A couple years ago, he never would've thought that he'd have this, someone to love and cuddle with and kiss whenever he felt like it. She's a light he didn't see coming after Yancy died. Raleigh hums, turning to nuzzle her.]
No, I wanted you to. I've missed you. [And she was already awake, but he doesn't necessarily know that part. She leans back and presses a kiss to the tip of his nose, between his eyebrows, on his forehead.] Lie down.
[He does just that, turning on to his stomach, curling his arms around one of the pillows. Raleigh's not dumb enough to turn down a massage from Mako, because her hands-- oh boy her hands are great but he'll return the favor sometime. Tonight, another night, it'll happen.]
Must be love. [Pressed jokingly with a kiss to his shoulder, just before she rolls over and climbs on his back, straddling his waist smoothly. There are massage oils somewhere in a drawer, but she's missed just touching him to begin with, so she lets herself have this for a moment. Runs her hands over his back, on top of his shirt first, then under it.]
[He sighs softly against the pillow, tension just bleeding out of him really once she puts her hands on him. He still holds on to a little of it, but that's just how Raleigh is-- he's always carrying some of his grief and trauma and he never lets go of it, because it's his burden to carry. It's his reminder of what he used to have and what really matters.]
[It's minutes later, after rubbing a knot loose under his shoulder blade (a pain she knows well, she used to get them after a shooting all the time), she lies down on top of his back, her head nestled on top of one shoulder.]
[If he's going to be doing that, then maybe she'll lie down on top of him, fitting as perfectly as she thought she fit the first time. Maybe just a little bit more in irresponsible love.]
[Hers would not, and Mako knows it. If anything, she'll get a side mission while they're away, because that's the way it goes. But they can dream. She can dream, especially.]
Mm - chop the firewood ourselves. Make pancakes in the morning.
[She rests her head on his chest with a happy little dreamy sigh, draws a circle above his heart.] Maybe not get out of bed at all.
How am I supposed to chop the wood from bed, Mako?
[But no, really that sounds amazing right now. Part of him knows that he's just upset and vulnerable because of the mission and the rest of him doesn't give a shit because he loves her so much.]
[What will matter, in the future, will be that this moment right here, it's Mako who answers - not the agent, not the spy, not the sleeper, not anyone else - just her.]
[He blinks at her in surprise-- because what? He proposed a few months ago and she said yes and that's all they've done about it because their schedules are hectic and she wants to go tomorrow?]
Yes. Yes - let's just go to townhall. [Just like that, simple as that. She doesn't want to fill in the forms and take interviews and let other people decide whether or not it's useful for her to marry this man, this love of her life embodied in a man.]
~engaged~ life alright
[He'd be lying if he said he didn't mean to wake her up so he doesn't add that. Leans in to press a kiss against her forehead, then her cheek, lingering there and tightening his hold on her in his arms. Missed you.

We should go on a vacation. Just the two of us.
no subject
I wouldn't have planned to take anyone else.
no subject
Or we could actually set a date and go on that honeymoon.
no subject
Can we afford a honeymoon, Mr. Becket?
no subject
Does it have to be fancy? We could rent a cabin somewhere. Away from everything and everyone. Curl up before the fire.
